Introduction to Boxer Puppies

Boxers were developed in Germany in the 1800's. They are medium sized, short haired dogs with very distinctive features. There coats is brindle or fawn, meaning that it is striped instead of just one color. Their coats normally contain various shades of red and may or may not have white markings on them.

Boxers are known for there very distinctive features. Their bodies are short and they have broad shoulders. Their heads are usually proportionate to their body and should be lean and unwrinkled. The lower jaw of the mouth extends farther than the upper jaw. Also, the muzzle of the Boxer is square and they have a very powerful bite.

These dogs only get to a maximum height of approximately fifty six to sixty three centimeter for males and fifty three to sixty one centimeters for females. The maximum weight is twenty seven to thirty two kilograms for males and twenty four to twenty nine kilograms for females.

These dogs are very happy and playful. They will become very close to family members and other pets that are in the house. This factor makes them great to have around children. They make great playmates due to the fact that they love to play are normally boisterous and full of energy.

You can have a Boxer in an apartment, however if this will be the situation they will need to be exercised regularly. This can be accomplished by taking the dog for a walk several times a day or simply taking the dog outside to play.

The Boxers tendency to be energetic can also be a negative aspect. They must be trained not to jump on people as they become bigger. However, these dogs are very obedient and this makes training them very easy and simple. The training should be done by an owner who can establish dominance over the dog. And training should be started from the time they are puppies due to the fact that they are harder to train as they age.

Boxers should have regular health screenings by a veterinarian. There are several health issues that are common to this particular breed. Heart problems are one of the issues that plague these dogs. They also tend to suffer from skin allergies and other allergies, thyroid issues and hip dysplasia. In their later years they have a tendency to get tumors.

Overall, Boxers make excellent pets if they are well cared for and trained. They will grow up to be loyal and lovable companions.
